My Mom Lives In A Dying Medium
2019 - ongoing
Video Installation (Video made with VCR Player, VHS Tape and Laptop)
In 2016, the Video Cassette Recording (VCR) player was officially pronounced dead. Inspired by the loss in quality as the video transfers were made across analog and digital system, the work is a result of the transference process of reading and writing the same video data between an analog and digital system in multiple iterations. The work thinks about physical and emotional imprint of a memory as it seeks to explore the experience of degradation, misplaced nostalgia and the future (and past) of memory.
What was lost as we made the leap from analog to digital? This work is an ongoing query into memory, technology and legacy.
